RUBA BLOG

January 20, 2017

Ruba is coming up on the 103rd anniversary of it's inception as a club dedicated to Philadelphia communities. First, Russians and people of Slavic decent, now (as of 2010) Member's and their communities -- supporting "Social Arts-Entertainment" and of course the ever-present "Physics & physics related activities."

But yeah, we know Ruba is devoted to good times, magical moments, parties, shows, weddings, and those elusive after-hours experiences more fun than you can remember.

Coming up we continue the Ruba experience Wednesday through Sundays (and for your booked event!):

Wednesdays with CinemaRay's movie night, except for Nov 23rd's Turkey Twerk. There is the monthly Philadelphia Argentine Tango School's hosting of a Milonga (basically a tango party) in the 2nd floor Ballroom Theater. Arrive early for tango lessons.

Coming up in December The always fun West Philadelphia Orchestra and their "Shake Your Brass Festival" with special guests Black Masala (DC), and Cocek Brass Band (Boston). They will surely shake your winter blues away. And don't forget in the spring A VERY SPECIAL PURIM returns for the springtime Jewish Halloween.

Also wanted to note Ruba member of the month (membership is not required to attend Ruba, but it is to throw and event). Member Alexandra Fees (#469A) and her troupe put on THE CELL, an immersive opera experience for Opera Week. Powerful voices, amazing conception and really great people out of NYC and Philadelphia. Alexandra We salute you... Along with a shout out to our favorite DJ Kristen Herman (#345A and WMMR Sundays at 6:00am) who made Halloween at Ruba a day to remember.
